Can't import audio (Assertion Error) with Pro Tools 11 on El Capitan/later
I've upgraded to OSX el captain and am finally getting around to setting up a new session and keep running into this error when importing audio:
Could not complete the Import Audio command because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/151228/ProTools/NewFileLibs/Cfd/MacBuild/../MacOS/Cfd_ImportAudioDialogMacOS.mm", line 559. (Use the Copy button to copy this message to the clipboard.) Is anybody else had this issue? And if so how did you solve it? ADMIN EDIT: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...rt-Audio-Error |

PT 11.3.2 on El Capitan... can some people chime in?
Who all is running 11 on El Cap?
Please specify PT11 version (Vanilla or HD, #.#.#, El Capitan 10.11.x) - and issues present I am trying to identify wether people are running ok, or if everyone is having issues. And, if anyone is running ok, what versions and machines - so I can chase down the issues I'm having. I am on PTHD11.3.2, on El Capitan 10.11, MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011, Import Audio Assertion Error MacBook: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP645?l...ewlocale=en_US If you need to find your machine info, click the Apple Icon, About This Mac, Support, Specifications. I would like to take my production machines to El Capitan, but my testing on my MacBook is exhibiting Import Audio Assertion Errors, and I'm unwilling to live with that. Soon, I may make a production machine system clone, and try it, but I'd like some feedback first (I know we will see Eucon issues as well, at least with scribbles) Thanks!!!!! |
Re: PT 11.3.2 on El Capitan... can some people chime in?
PT12 isn't even El Capitan ready, and PT11 was designed with Yosemite in mind, so be careful playing with fire. I'd suggest jumping up one from where you are -- into Yosemite -- but not up two.
Actually, in retrospect, I think Mavericks might have been more stable with PT11 than Yosemite is. Some days I regret upgrading. |
Re: PT 11.3.2 on El Capitan... can some people chime in?
All our production machines are on Mavericks 10.9.5
I will not move any production machines to El Capitan until I've exhaustively researched and tested. The main reason I want to move them to El Capitan is for Metal ... Especially for the two machines also running Final Cut Pro X.... and there are also overall performance increases. El Capitan is feeling faster across the board on the MacBook Pro I am testing it with. I do not want to move to 12 at this time. In reality, our systems are rock solid on Mavericks, and I will not move them away from 11 on Mav unless I am able to do so reliably and with performance increases (mainly for the video side of things)... that's the whole point. There is really nothing in 12 that interests me, and I'd rather not give up licenses to move to it.... |
Re: Importing Audio issues
This "work around" worked for me as well. BUT! what is the fix for the problem? Drag and drop as an import method in Pro Tools is not going to work for me for very long....

Re: Importing Audio issues
You may need to upgrade Pro Tools to version 12. Pro Tools 11 isn't compatible with El Capitan.

When I attempt to import audio, I get the following error message:
Could not complete the Import Audio command because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/153787/ProTools/NewFileLibs/Cfd/MacBuild/../MacOS/Cfd_ImportAudioDialogMacOS.mm", line 559. I'm on a 2015 Macbook Pro, El Capitan 10.11.2, running PT 11.3.2, my interface is an Apogee Duet. Thanks in advance, Michael |
