Quartet 5.1 Monitoring

Hi All,
Anyone using the Quartet for 5.1 monitoring? I haven't purchased it yet and was wondering how well it works with PT. Thank you.

Does 5.1
I use the PT12HD, routes as it should.

Are you using the Apogee Quartet or the Avid Quartet? Avid includes an I/O Control software that makes the 5.1 setup easier. Just wondering if it's worth it.
Thanks.

Apogee branded.

Apogee includes their own IO software, just set up 1-6 accordingly, and setup a 5.1 in the PT IO. Actually very easy.
AFAIK, Avid Quartet IO software is the same.

The only upside to Avid Quartet is Windows compatibility. Which I don't need.
So I went with Apogee so I can record VO on my iPhone or iPad.

Using it with a 2012 Mac Mini Quad, when I bring home sessions. 32 tracks, a bunch of eqs, compressors, limiters, and RX dialog noise reduction.
While pushing DNXHD36 video.
I have PT12HD auth, as I also have an Omni HDX rig, so I can't tell you if Vanilla
PT allows a 5.1 bus, or output.

FIY
Apogee will not respond to support requests on the Avid version.

My Sweetwater rep says I will need to run the Maestro software with PT in order to have the master volume control all of the 5.1 outputs. Is this true?
Thanks.

He's making it sound more than what it is.
Maestro software is Apogees IO configurator, yes you install it, configure it once, 1 to 1 2 to 2 3 to 3 4 to 4 5 to 6 to 6, and it runs on boot. Then you configure the Protools IO for 5.1

As you stated:
"Avid includes an I/O Control software that makes the 5.1 setup easier."

Its the same as Apogee's software, Apogee calls it "Maestro".
