Naming of clips when audio file ends with a number
When using an audio file whose name ends with a number, I would like Pro Tools to append a number when I create new clips rather than changing the number. For example, if I have an audio file named "guitar 5-18-13" and I separate it into two clips, I would like the new clips to be named "guitar 5-18-13-1" and "guitar 5-18-13-2" rather than "guitar 5-18-14" and guitar 5-18-15". How can I get Pro Tools to do that?
I've tried unchecking "Auto-Name Separated Clips" but it had no effect on the behavior described above. |
Re: Naming of clips when audio file ends with a number
In PT 10.3.4, if you devide the clip "guitar 5-18-13", it will become "guitar 5-18-13" and "guitar 5-18-14" (not "guitar 5-18-14" and "guitar 5-18-15" as you describe).
If you do not use the "-" (minus) for the last number, but "_" (underscore) or " " (empty space), then "guitar 5-18_13" splitted will become "guitar 5-18_13-01" and "guitar 5-18_13-02". |

Re: Naming of clips when audio file ends with a number
If "guitar 5-18-13" is a whole-file-audio, then the split clips will be "guitar 5-18-13" and "guitar 5-18-14".
If, in your case, "guitar 5-18-13" is a part of a mother-whole-file-audio then it works as you described. (Sorry, I did not do my whole homework.) Glad, I learned something and was able to help ! Cheers, Joachim |

Once clips are split, Strip Silence can rename selected clips in various ways
Although I do like the underscore tip! |
