damaged project file?

1 Attachment(s)
I just opened a session (2018.10) i did some in little edits yesterday. I got the Session Note: "following invalid fades were detected" and then a huge list with nearly all audios of the session.
The session itself includes ONLY about 5% of the clips, all tracks, no video.
No message about missing audios.

The session i saved 4 days ago is fine.

Do you have an idea what went wrong. Is it simply a damaged .ptx file or do you have other ideas about that?

I don't know if the session file is corrupted. Maybe it didn't actually save properly and didn't retain the edits and fades - who knows? I think there's an option in Preferences to automatically recreate fades though.

Re: damaged project file?

It's not only the fades and edits missing. The clip list only holds around 50 files, the rest seems to be gone. And PT does not show the missing files dialog.

Re: damaged project file?

What about going to an old session, exporting the raw tracks without processing and reporting them to the new session and making sure all the setting were the same? Go thru all your session backups and see when out changed. I save b/u every 3 min in preferences and set them for like the max capacity saved.

I think you did this but just in case read below:

Did you set your file back up preferences? You should be able to revert to the last dated session. You might lose a few things, bit if the back ups worked you should be fine. Go into your "Backups" folder and look for your last solid session, open that ptx file. Let me know if this helps. If not, you may have a corrupt session if the fades are also causing you to lose audio.

I would do the max. It sure does not hurt to keep months of them. The come in handy, BELIEVE ME!! I chose the. MAX of 999, which is the most you can keep. It will delete after that. That way if you have a project that goes back months, you have a way to check it.
They are not that big of files and are in a separate folder, so no big deal right?
Good luck..

Yes, i hear you! :) And seems you are right. Once one experience an Issue with a corrupted project, the more backupsteps, the better. Since they are being put in a seperate folder and not laying next to the main .ptx files its no deal with clarity.

Did you ever work out the issues? I've just had the same thing happen to me. Invalid Fades and now clips are missing out of my session.

No sry, i did not. I lost 2hours of edit work back then.
Fortunetly i didnt happen again to me so far.
I changed my saving routine to 4 or 5 project files a day +999 backups as mentioned above.

This same thing happened to me twice, has anyone found a solution? This is absolutely the worst pro tools bug I have ever seen.
