MacBook Pro 2010 Common GPU issue
I’m looking to buy a Mac book pro around the £400-£500 mark I keep hearing about the i7 2010 graphic issue, can anyone fill me in on what this issue is and if they have experienced it
Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: MacBook Pro 2010 Common GPU issue
I just got a 2012 and I have seen no errors running PT12.4
I would recommend a 2012 because it has both Thunderbolt and FW800...they can also be had for the same amount of money |
MacBook Pro 2010 Common GPU issue
When I say GPU issues I mean the board fails not issues the the graphics. Something about kernel panic
Also what speed i7 should I go for Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: MacBook Pro 2010 Common GPU issue
Someone said I won’t notice that much difference between a 2.66 and 2.8
Wish I New more about this kernel panic issues, bit scared of buying 2nd hand and it needs a new board a week later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If it’s got to be stable buy a newer model.

Re: MacBook Pro 2010 Common GPU issue
The Macbook 2010 GPU kernel panic issue is commonly caused by a failed tantalum capacitor on a video power rail (frame buffer). The part costs $2 and takes about an hour to change. I have repaired two 2010 MBP with this problem. Back in the day Apple would replace the logic board and if out of warranty costs $750.
Anyway if that spooks you go for a 2012 as Daniel said in earlier post plus it has USB3. |
