Which is less CPU-heavy...PT or Logic?

I've been using PT LE for a few months now and I love the audio editing features and the smoothness of the interface, but it seems to be kind of a CPU hog when I use virtual instruments, compared to something like Reason.

In a VERY general way, do those of you using both PT and Logic have any thoughts on which application is lighter on the CPU with software synths?

I was thinking about picking up Logic to do my synthesis stuff and using PT for audio, and I'd love to get a little feedback on this.

(BTW, I'm using an iBook G3 500 MhZ, which is kind of a modest computer to begin with...)

Bump?

Anyone have an opinion?

Since Logic 6.0 has Freeze Tracks...it really is no contest when it comes to softsynths.

I love PT but sorry to say, Logic wins in the handling of its virtual instruments.

Cheers

I have a G3ibook and G4 Power Mac.
In my experience, Logic 6 works WAY better on G4s.

Are you mentioning PT 6?
I've used PT 5 and Logic 5.3 on my Power Mac under OS9 and didn't notice much difference.

I'm still waiting on my PT 6 update from Digi. Thanks for the input!

I think Logic is a bit more CPU effecient on my computer but I really think you should consider what the individual programs strengths are. When I`m doing something with soft synths then it`s a no-brainer - Logic kick major booty, but Pro Tools is so easy to use when it comes to just doing audio work. I just spent an hour with Logic last night trying to get an auxillary channel (not the bus kind) into the session but failed. I`ve never wasted that kind of time with PT.
