Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Hey Guys,
Hopefully operator error but after installing 2018.01 I lost HEAT. Auth is there on my ILOK. Installed drivers. Trashed Prefs. I'm Stumped Thanks in advance zeeman |
Re: Lost HEAt in 2018 Install
If you have the authorization on your iLok, then Heat is just hidden. Go to the mixer view options and make it visible. If you mean it is greyed out, hit the arrow at the far right of the mixer view to make the main Heat setting visible and turn it on. That'll un-grey the channel strip settings.

Re: Lost HEAt in 2018 Install
Hey Man,
Thanks for the reply. HEAT is not booting up with the software. I don't see it at all and each session says that HEAT will be deactivated until you open an HD session. but I am in PTHD. I don't even see it as an option to turn on or off. Seems like the installer didn't install it. When PT opens it says PTHD. Verified that the Auth is on my ILOK. One of those weird things. Everything else Runnin smooth in PT 2018.01 I'm gonna try and reinstall again(2nd time) and see whats up. Pulled ILOK out and reinserted. trying everything. Again thx for your help zeeman |

Heat doesn't install -- it's in the software package that is Pro Tools (embedded inside.) It just works if it sees the ilok authourization. Can you make a new session and does it work? If that is your error message above, it sounds like the problem is with the session. Where did those ProTools sessions start from? Have you checked you have the latest iLok software? And if so, go to your iLok key, right click on it while logged in, and choose "synchronize" |

Hey BScout,
Thanks for taking the time to help. This is the message: Attachment 9859 tried a new session. Same thing. Latest ILOk software installed. reseated ILOK. I'm stumped Thanks again z |
Re: Lost HEAt in 2018 Install
It definitely thinks you are't running Pro Tools HD. Can you post a screen shot from Pro Tools from "About Pro Tools | HD"? Should show you the splash screen.
(I take it you've already tried trashing the Pro Tools preferences?) |

Exactly,
it thinks I'm Running non HD. I just redownloaded Pt and I'm gonna try again to do an Install. Yep trashed prefs. Pulled ILOK out and reinserted. Rebooted. Took the dog for a walk. made peace with anybody I might have pissed off. I'm stumped. Thanks again z |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Man o Man. Fresh Download.3rd time. wiped everything Even saw the HEAT plugin go by as PT was booting but still no HEAT. somehow still thinks i'm not running HD.
Can anyone else confirm that they are running HEAt successfully in PT 2018.01 just one of those days z |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Heat running fine here. Didn’t do anything different but install 2018.1 over 12.8.3. I’m on Windows 10.

Thanks for the info.
Much Appreciated. z |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
I see you are running El Cap. I know it is approved but I don't know anyone running it for Pro Tools (everyone I know went from Yosemite to Sierra or High Sierra.)
You said you wiped everything. Did you do/use this to make sure everything is gone?: http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html Have you rebooted? What does the Application Manager say? Does it recognize you running/installed Pro Tools HD 2018.01? No problems with Heat on Sierra for me. Also have you double checked the Heat license is showing on your iLok and have you done an ilok key synchronize? (sign in, click on ilok key, right click, select synchronize) |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Hey,
My Machine won't go to Sierra. El Cap is as far as i can go. And yes to everything else you stated. Using Pete's Pref App. HEAT is showing on my ILOK. Did a sync, App Manager shows PT2018.01 Shows everything else up to date. This is def a weird one. Prob going back to Pt12.8.1 where things have been running really smooth. Bummed for sure. Digging the new features. thx for your help and info z |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Got it.
Pulled out my ILOK( which i did do once already)and reinserted but this time did a sync right after and sure enough HEAT came back. BScout thx for your help. "And if so, go to your iLok key, right click on it while logged in, and choose "synchronize" I think that's what did it. Much appreciated. z |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
Same thing happened here with PT 2019.6.
loaded sessions and dialog box would popup reading: "HEAT Is Not ActiveOpened my iLOK License Manager and saw HEAT was a light grey color. I right clicked and selected "refresh" Closed and reopened PT. All is good now. |
Re: Lost HEAT in 2018 Install
HEAT is always installed. Whether you can use it or not depends if you have the license. If you have the license and it still does not work, contact Avid Support to check what is wrong with the license.
