Eucontrol

What is the purpose of eucontrol? I went through all the installation procedures but I don't see it anywhere in my Pro Tools 9.0.5 sessions. I previously had Pro Tools 8.0.4, but I was told that that version wasn't compatible with my Lion OS 10.7.2, so I went and upgraded to Pro Tools 9.0.5 because I was having trouble stopping my playback and record in 8.0.4. It wouldn't stop until seconds later after I had stopped it. It continued to do that even with Pro Tools 9.0.5. Enter Eucontrol? Can somebody help me. Since I have installed Eucontrol 2.6.2 I haven't had any problems yet, however, I still want to know if it is actually doing what I think it's supposed to do and if so, where is it?

Do you have a Eucon compatible control surface ?
I don't think the start / stop latency you are experiencing has anything to do with the Eucon drivers.

Eucon is a control protocol that allows for tight integration of eucon compatible control surfaces with Eucon compatible software over ethernet.

In Pro Tools you enable Eucon in the peripherals > ethernet controllers menu.
