External Lacie RAID drive. Opinions?
 

I'm poised to buy this Lacie external drive for backups, and for the rare occassions I take sessions to a TDM studio. No 'touring'.

I already have a RAID setup at home (ABIT BL7-RAID motherboarboard) and it works fine. I've never had a problem with it. But a number of people here have advised against using RAID.

I always wondered why RAID never caught on - and maybe this product is a sign of it finally doing so...

Anyone had any dealings with this product or similar?




(Tell you what - can somebody please buy one and tell us all if it works? )

This looks pretty good. I have heard that Lacie makes a good product but I have no personal experience with them. Regarding the RAID question...it seems to me that it *should* in theory enhance a PT system, but like you, I have heard nothing but negative comments. Anyone know why?

Because RAID is not suported by Digi, says so right in compat docs.

"Not supported" does not always mean "definitely will not work," but simply means either "will not work period," OR "has been known to cause problems," or "best performance may not be achieved with."
