InterLok death . . .

Updating from 8.01 to 8.03 has blown this system up (ProTools LE)
Using the 32-bit emulation structure has not been a problem - LE v8 works a treat (for this newbie). After the update, a message appears requesting InterLok driver update (go to paceac.com; etc.). The EXE is downloaded & run, but an error gets thrown (error1326.Error C:\windows\system32\Drivers\tpkd.sys GetLastError:2).
Then clicking on the ProTools app icon yields an immediate boink . . .
Then I uninstall, re-install v8.00 & everthing is fine (can't re-install 8.01 though - it used to be possible). Spreads across two (2) monitors fine, yada, yada . . . And I get the "Update Available" message just fine, too . . .
What's up? Apparently InterLok is an anti-piracy method - seems silly, doesn't it? How is an "Update Available" message received but the "Update" doesn't have the capability to create permissions?
Any thoughts out there?
Firewall (Zone Alarm) is turned off during every install; even went back to v7.4 in my re-install progression . . .
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there . . .
Nope, not USB - using SATA
Plus, I'm a MBox2 Mini only guy. Am hoping to get more involved creatively, but the software installs get me bogged down . . .
Much less integrating new stuff like ToonTrack samples
Thanks for the alternate driver site . . .

By USB interface, I think he meant an Mbox 2 or mini which is USB, as opposed to an Mbox Pro which is firewire. Just a guess....

PS
Vista 64 has two (2) Program File install sites. One is for applications that require 32-bit emulation - I've tried both. The "natural" placement is in the (x86) folder. I thought that maybe the interLok driver set-up was "seeing" a 64-bit system & tried to update ProTools' needs with 64-bit drivers, couldn't access the pathway it thought best & threw up . . .

A newbie here - your "guess" is probably spot on . . .
