Thinking through cloud workflows in post...

I've got 12.5, watched the videos, read the "what's new" doc, and have begun figuring this out. I'm thinking aloud about the steps we would take in post:

1.) open my template PT session, load video, AAF, etc.

2.) 'save copy in' to PT project (making sure my cache is on a big external drive).

3.) invite collaborators (for example dialog editor to work on dialog tracks).

4.) stay in project for duration of mix.

5.) at end of mix, 'save copy in' back to PT session for long-term storage.

Is that the right approach?

Can I share the video track with my collaborators over the cloud?

Q: Is there anything in Pro Tools that I can’t share?
A: At initial release, everything in Pro Tools is sharable except Groups, VCA Groups, Video Tracks and HEAT settings.

Please see the Cloud Collaboration FAQ for more information.

You can send them a link separately for the video file on another form of internet communication - ensuring security and safety! ;-D

Seriously though - we are working on Video track collab - we know it's important.

I like your steps - I think the only thing I would add is that if you are limited on cloud space - you may want to create some committed versions/stems and 'export selected as a new session' that you are planning on putting into the project that will be loaded onto the cloud and shared. Does that make sense?

Thanks,
Tom
