Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
Last night, I reformatted my MacBook Pro and reinstalled a fresh copy of Lion using a bootable USB stick. I installed Lion and the 10.7.1 update. After installing iLok drivers and the 9.0.5 FULL installer, PT still does not boot! It loads all the plugs into Xpand.dpm, and then crashes. I have NO 3rd party plugins loaded yet, only the stock Avid plugins. Any tips?

Re: Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
I have exactly the same problem.
I just received my Protools Box, I started to install it on my all new Macbook Pro with Lion and after 2 clean install and update, Protools crashes just after loading xpand.dpm. Please HELP ! |
Re: Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
I did have the same thing happen, but after re-starting the computer, it works.
Not sure if this is the solution for everyone, but I heard it has something to do with another app (I think iChat), that does something to the system or core audio that has to be "flushed" by the re-start. |
Re: Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
Thank you so much ! It works !
I deactivated the automatic launch of all my applications (including iChat), restarted my computer and Protools has finally started. You saved my 3 next mixing sessions to finnish before the end of month...! Musicals regards, Aurélien. |
Re: Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
Another similar occurrence here - installed PT9.0.5 onto new MPB running Lion - PT hung at the xPand! plug - cancelled and rebooted then PT9 started perfectly.

Re: Pro Tools 9.0.5 freezes after FRESH install of Lion
Take a look at this thread. It's basically an issue with the AudioMidi Setup and the Pro Tools Aggregate I/O. Deselect the internal "Built-in" Devices and you'll be fine.
