Huge Digidesign PCI Express Core HD card BSOD problem

Hi,

I have several latest MAC PRO machines in my studio.
All of them have also Vista 64 Bit ultimatte installed
for Boot Camp so that I also normaly use all eight
cores for render farm purposes on the each MAC PRO
machine.

But one of the MAC PRO machine which is 20 % used for
Digidesign PRO TOOLS hard disk recording with the
Digidesign CORE HD PCI Express card under MAC OSX
works fine under MAC OSX, but always immediately
BSOD crashes when I boot to WIN Vista 64 Bit Ultimate
for render farm requrements with the Digidesign Card present.

If such card is not present in the system
the system works also great under WIn Vista 64 bit Ultimate
render farm environment also if I have hooked on it
the Tc Electronic Konnekt X32 with the yellow mark sign as
uninstalled!

I know that Pro Tools software is supported only by
32 bit Vista or 32 bit Xp or MAC OSX but I do not want to install
Pro Toools software or even not the basic device drivers
for the card under Win Vista 64 bit because there are none for the
Win Vista 64 bit Ultimate and I want to use the Pro Tools system
under MAC OSX what is just fine.

I just want that the card is not installed under Win Vista 64 bit
and that it has the yellow sighn without any driver
and that it does not crash immediately the MAC PRO machine under
Win Vista 64 bit Ultimate when such machine is used
for the render farm environment. So that the Digidesign card
is only present in the system.

I have not seen the BSOD on the Win Vista 64 bit
Ultimate for years now!

Are the Digidesign Core HD PCI Express cards so badly
designed that they crash the MAC PRO machine even
if there are no drivers present or installed for such cards
under Win VISTA 64 bit Ultimate what now happens
to my Mac Pro machines?

Could you please send me the new firmware for the
card and the installer for it under MAC OSX in order
that I can sucessfuly use such card as uninstalled
card under Win Vista 64 bit environment without BSOD
crashing the computer so that the card shall only
be present in the computer?

I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you
in advance.

Yours faithfuly,

Gorazd.

Hi,

Does no one have the answer why the Digidesign
Core HD PCI Express card makes BSOD my Vista 64 bit
based boot camp Mac PRO ( the computer immediately
crashes when such card is present in the computer )
when even no drivers are installed -
because there are none?

Please help?

Seeing as the HD cards are NOT supported under 64 Bit Vista, NOR is a MacPro a supported "Windows Machine" for ProTools HD on Windows, I'd say your only real option, if you must use this machine with Both OS's, and ProTools HD OSX - is to use a Chassis, which you can disconnect when booting into Windows Vista 64 bit.

Being an EFI based system, rather then Bios controlled, there is NO "Work Around" housing an HD Accel card, on a MacPro - running Vista 64.

A Chassis, or a separate PC (Which you can probably build for the same price as the Chassis) to Run Vista 64 - are your only 2 likely options.

The PCIe HD cards are not supported under Vista 64. If you have multiple machines you might think about taking this particular one and putting Vista 32 on it. Or XP for that matter. You have a better chance of that working. I don't think Digi HAS 64bit drivers for the PCIe HD cards for Windows-Period. You might also try posting this in The Windows TDM forum as you stand a better chance of getting a answer there. I know that people have run HD Via bootcamp with XP on Mac Pros.
