Garge Band files --> Pro Tools??

What is the best way to transfer or import audio files from Garage Band into Pro Tools?

1) Solo each individual track, export the entire song. Solo the next track, do the same, etc... Then import all of those files/tracks into Pro Tools.

2) If the session isn't too crazy... right click (ctrl click) on the garageband file, show package contents, go to the "media" folder... There are all of the audio files in the garageband session. You can then take those and place them in Pro Tools, but you'll have to reassemble the session.

Good luck.

There is a better and faster way.
Open the garage band session and....

1...Press the lock button on each track that you want to export.
2...Press play, a dialog comes up indicating that the tracks are being locked. In this case Garage Band is rendering the files.
3...Save the Garage Band session
4...Create a Pro Tools session
5...Swap to the finder and Locate the Garage Band File that you saved in step 3.
6...Right click on the file to show the contextual menu and select "Show package Contents"
7...A folder will open that contains other folders, open the "Freeze Files" folder select all and drag the contents to the edit window of Pro Tools session you have created. This will import the audio files and create a track for each audio file. Make sure all files start at the same time, say the beginning of the session.
8...Take note of the Tempo of the Garage Band file and match it in Pro Tools.

You are done. You can rename the imported Tracks and files from within Pro Tools as these are copies of the files that are in the Freeze files folder.
Hope this helps

Whoa! That's really helpful. I'll certainly use that approach in future projects!

Simons method is just fine - just notice that these freeze tracks are rendered before channelstrip fx (prosessing) and level - strangely enough not like in Logic Pro 8, that include this. If you want to include the effects and level settings used in GB, use Ryans first description (take some time, tho...). Just a choice.
