Mac rocks better !!!
Hi everybody,
for nearly a half a year I tried out to bring my PC to work well with PT 10. Everday I had a new fight .... ElevenRack does not work, Midi sucks, PC crash .... a.s.o. Last friday I bought a new MacPro ... MD770 ... maybe one of the last one in europe. absolute fantastic ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is working well ... Now I can sleep a night very well again. Don´t try to tell your PC what to do and pray ... trash him. |
Re: Mac rocks better !!!
Don't think it's been the best decision to buy a new MacPro. It's quite outdated and vastly overpriced.
But apart from that, I agree. PT on Mac is a much nicer experience. |

Re: Mac rocks better !!!
I have been using Macs for over 12 years, not only for music but also for 2D and 3d tasks. (Maya, After Effects, Final Cut etc...) I swore by them and their stability. The first warning sign that it might be a one sided love was what they did with FinalCutPro and how they treated the whole film industry. It was a shock for me. I looked at Logic and thought that it might be next. So I moved to PT. Nowadays they make money on phones, tablets and in the next future on TVsets and watches. Making a pro spec computer will be the last thing they will be interested in. Many people wait for the new MacPro but honestly, they already gave up that market in my opinion, even if a new machine comes out in the next one-two months. I switched to PC (like many others who couldn’t wait any longer) about a year ago. I can't complain. It is true, you have to find the right components, especially with sensible software like PT, but it works, and for a fraction of a price of a MacPro I have a machine that can run circles around a Mac performance wise. These days, with the intel chips, the macs are nothing else than, overpriced, but carefully assembled, well build and a bit outdated, PC's.

Re: Mac rocks better !!!
I have been using PT 8 on XP and I dual boot into it and for me, man it does everything I need and it has just been rock solid since 2009. I can record all day with no issues at all.
I think having a Mac would be very cool too but man, the price... and the upgrade price to PT 11 is just crazy! I'll use this until it dies. |

It was kind if like my cousin when she had a blackberry she said she loved her blackberry - then she got an iPhone and would never consider going back And so for full disclosure I actually run a Hackintosh - so less money for more computer - and with all the stability of the Mac o/s |

Both of my daughters have Macs. They seem to have their problems too though and they are not perfect by any means but I would love to give one a spin with PT for sure. I can say though that with my current setup I just have no issue at all for what I need to do. My average song has about 14 tracks or so and a few virtual instruments and plugins... it works just fine. It WAS a problem before using the 11R to record but because that does its own pressing any issue I had with USB and the like went away. BTW, I love my iPhone. I don't think it will be long and our PC will just be our smartphone anyway. Set it down and connect with blue tooth or something with a keyboard and monitor and call it a day. |
