Re: New Samsung EVO 860 question

Re Magician software; it worked well on Windows(never tried it on a Mac), but once its been run, I would uninstall it and for 2 reasons:
#1-once its done its job, it doesn't need to remain on your system
#2-on 2 different PC's it made all USB drives disappear:eek: As soon as I uninstalled Magician, all USB drives worked as expected.

Re future PC connections, you have a few options there;
#1-install Paragon HFS+ for Windows and you can read the Mac drive(you may not be able to write to it, but you can copy sessions onto the PC's recording drive and work on the session).
#2-Mediafour MacDrive allows total back and forth for Mac drives on a PC
#3-copy all your sessions to another drive and reformat for Windows. Then copy back(advantage here is, now you have things backed up once)

But remember this; if files are not backed up in at least 3 places, then they are not properly backed up(and one of the 3 places SHOULD be in another building, or in the cloud):-)

Magician does not run on Macs.

HFS+ is floating out to sea on it’s burning funeral barge. Many Pro Tools Mac users, especially those working on their boot SSD drives are on APFS (often without realizing it?). Technically a much better file system. Paragon APFS gives APFS support on Windows. Anybody working cross Mac-PC should be paying attention to HFS+ vs. APFS.... client will turn up with the opposite you expect, MacOS upgrades might ruin your day, etc. Just copying content via common file systems or a network may be the easiest path.
