Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hello my fellow live sound dudes and dudettes ...
Just wanted to alert you to some upcoming webinars that I'll be doing on behalf of Digidesign. The subject matter will be specific to live sound workflows and Digidesign live sound and recording products. I'll be doing one per month -- The first one is on Wed, April 23rd at 10AM PST. See the address below for more info and sign up -- Hope to see you there! Live Sound Webinars Robert Scovill |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Awesome! I'll be watching tomorrow morning.

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Robert and Sheldon, Thank you so much for taking the time to do these webinars and posting them online to watch later, I was busy working (not such a bad thing) and could not attend the initial broadcast. I was particularly looking forward to the VENUE/Pro Tools installment... It answered many questions I had about workflow and implementation.
As you say; "exciting times in live audio" indeed. A few questions: Are the I/O limitations of 18 tracks on LE due to the Firewire interface? I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around 32 workable tracks being limited to 18 out of the FOH/Mixrack. Any work around on this? Say if a producer (or studio engineer) sends me the plug in files to import to VENUE, do I need the i-lock authorization associated with that plug in to install it? To Robert: BBQ... Texas Dry Rub or Carolina Sauce? |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hi Jon,
The webinars are a blast. We look forward to doing more in the future. Quote:

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
I try and register and it will not let me enter a state. Therefore I cannot complete registration.
|
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hi,
Try registering again and first select the country you live in, then the state/province choices will appear. If that doesn't work, please let us know what country you're in. Sheldon |
wasn't there supposed to be a webinar on July 30th?
I thought I saw that on the schedule, and I was planning to watch the archive of it but I can't find it. Did it not happen? Am I thinking of something else? |
Hi Daniel,
The webinars are archived here: Live Sound Webinars The most recent session was on July 30, discussing D-Show versus Profile control surfaces. The session is archived at the link above, but I notice it has the wrong date (6/25). Sorry for the confusion - we'll get that fixed... Sheldon |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Great job yesterday Robert. Thanks for the info guys. I know you said to point your questions here but is there a more active thread that I'm missing as far as the webinar's are concerned?
|
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hi,
Glad you enjoyed it. There isn't a specific webinar thread, so take a look at the existing threads or do a quick search, and if that doesn't answer your questions feel free to start a new thread. Sheldon |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Please join us this Wednesday January 28 at 10 AM PST for the first webinar of 2009. It's a good one, dedicated entirely to using plug-ins for live sound. See you there!

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Just curious why I have to register everytime I want to go back and watch one of the archived webinars. Seems to happen on both work and home computers.

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hey Scott,
Sorry for the inconvenience. The web folks are working on making it so you won't have to re-register. Thanks for the extra patience in the meantime... Sheldon |

Tell the web folks to get on it. You still have to re-register every time you want to watch one.:mad: |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hey Jon,
We're still working to make this happen. It's one of those tricky database management/merge things that's rarely as simple as you'd like it to be. In the meantime, if you click on any of the webinar follow up emails that were emailed to you after a webinar, included is a link that takes you directly to the archive page, bypassing any registration. You’ll see the first paragraph of that email says for example: “We hope you enjoyed the Digidesign Live Sound Webinar, "Building Show Files for Monitor Mixing." If you missed it or want to see it again, the webinar is now archived here on our website.” That link will take you to the Archived Webinars without any registration needed. Sheldon |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hello all web-beezzzz,
Is is possible to take out a softcopy and store this somewhere om a hard-/flash-drive ? My connections is not to fast, if i can get a download, i can quicker see parts i would like to replay... Haydo, Arjan |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hi Arjan,
We're looking at other ways to distribute the webinars, including downloadable versions. There's nothing to report just yet, though. Sheldon |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
I love the lighting along the side of the racks provided by LMG. Brand? info on these?
Thanks |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
I gather that these " webinars " failed to make the transition to the new and improved Avid. If not where might I find them?

Never mind - found a similar request and the answer below in the main forum.

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Hello.
I really like to watch those webinars, i learn a lot of very good things about Venue. But the format, although being very good for the live webinars (unfortunatly i couldn't attend any of them live, so far), isn't so friendly to watch them afterwards. I wish i could have them to watch while being offline, in a plane trip for example, or even to show other people where's no connection available. Are there any good news about that subject, maybe posting the webinars on Youtube, or providing for registered users a downloadable version? That would be very good. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Mario Jorge Andrade Recife - Brazil |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
I think a Podcast would be a great avenue for these webinars. =)

Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
Scott,
Try bookmarking the webinar archive page - and then open the bookmark link. Worked for me. |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
I just watched the live webinar with the Brad, Armando, and Chris...was pretty cool, thanks for hosting this. However, I've been trying to register for the archived webinars for quite some time now (like probably over a year)
It never lets me in...now I've been trying diligently for the last few days to register, but the State/Province field says "Not Applicable", which won't allow me to complete my registration. This is extremely frustrating, as I would really love to obtain the knowledge from these videos and discussions. I've already emailed website feedback about this issue, and not surprisingly, haven't gotten a response. Please help! Thanks |

It's really hard to get the Adobe Connect webinar format to work properly with the dodgy wifi I have on tour. I can easily watch that one Youtube webinar with a bad connection or with my iPhone, but all the others are a real pain to view. Since they are no longer interactive, why not just post all the old webinars as Youtube videos? That would make it way easier to watch them!! Or downloadable videos? I posted this idea on ideascale too... in the hopes that some votes might encourage Avid to get it done sooner. Sorry it's not quite a console idea, but it certainly improves the ease of use of the consoles to be able to watch the webinars!! |
Re: Digi Live Sound Webinars
 Robert, (or anyone who knows...) Where's the webinar with Pooch? I tried to register a number of times, but never got an email confirmation, and it looks like it's nowhere to be found although it should be happening right now! Was there a snafu with this one?
