Upgrading to PT12 from 10/11 with Pro Tools Annual Upgrade and Support Plan
 

Hello:

I'm about to do a necessary upgrade. I'm on PT 10/11 now. I understand I have to buy "Pro Tools Annual Upgrade and Support Plan" for $200.

So, lemme see if I got this right: I'd get free PT upgrades for a year (renewable for $99 a year?)

What If I don't renew this "subscription" service after my first year? Will I be able to still use PT12? Do I have to be subscribed to get further upgrades?

Take a look over the FAQ's

You will retain your version of Pro Tools even if you do not continue your support after the year ends.

I wont be upgrading. logic is 200 bucks. its not even worth reading all the bloated options text ... enough to make me ill. the assumption that we have time to read all that is super insulting.

Initially I didn't like idea of "renew annually". Then I looked more closely what's behind the concept:

Upgrade of DAW. Don't want to renew annual updates/extra support plan? Keep your PT12 and be happy :)

Have money/wish for annual plan? Renew your plan. It's up to you.

I think it's very fair.

If you're not interested in Pro Tools and want to switch to Logic, then why do you even bother posting here? Logic is great, but you'll find your own list of problems and workarounds with them. I own both, but prefer to work in Pro Tools. So buy Logic Pro X and join a Logic forum. We'll be fine here without your input.

There's another thing...

I lost my iLok and with it my PT 10/11 license. I suppose I have to get a new license before buying the upgrade to PT12?

That's paying 40-80 bucks more for the ASC code to get my old license back, which then I'd have to give up right away when I upgrade (PT12 vanilla version).
