Audio not saved
 

I am using windows 7 and recording audio using the laptop microphone as I start to learn how to use PTF.
I have created an audio track and can see the audio wave form on the screen whilst I am recording my voice.
When I stop recording and press the stop button the waveform disappears and I have no audio to play back.
I have loaded Midi files and they play back ok.
Can you help
