Segmentation Fault Alert after closing Pro Tools

Hi Everyone,

I've been receiving this alert every time I close Pro Tools:
"segmentation fault in thread mainthread at address 0x0"

I uninstalled and reinstalled Pro Tools several times and this alert keeps popping up. I looked up this issue on different forums but they all seem to be related to Avid Media Composer and not Pro Tools which his why I started this new thread. This error is not preventing me from working Pro Tools but it's annoying.

System info:
Mac Pro 6.1 Late 2013 - 3.5 GHz 4-Core Intel Xeon E5
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
16GB RAM
Pro Tools v12.2

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to how I can fix this I will be eternally grateful!

Cheers,
Raj

Hey, I would also love some help with this topic, same issue here.

We have 10 different PT systems and this seems to be the only one where it happens.

MacPro 6.1 Late 2013 - 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
32GB RAM

PT 12.7.1
6x Digidesign 192 Digital
1x Sync HD
2x HDX card

To recap: when closing PT, error message pops up:
"segmentation fault in thread mainthread at address 0x0"

It seems to be linked to databases. Trashing those fixes the problem, for a moment.

From my tests and research, it would appear that some files/sessions from previous PT versions corrupt the databases on 12.7 and up.

Anybody more info? I'll post after more tests.

Hi, thank you so much for replying! If that’s the case I’ll try replacing some of the corrupt files in the library folder with files of my MacBook, which doesn’t contain the error when I open Pro Tools. Let me know if you find out anything else about it.

Cheers,
Raj

is your Pro Tools Plan up-to-date ?? i see v12.2

are you staying at 12.2 for a reason ?? plan expired or ??

are you waiting to upgrade to 12.8.3 ?? plan expired or ??

more info please .. as your version of PT Might, Might be the issue with Sierra ..

i say might, because the other poster here is on 12.7.1 .. and maybe their plan is expired as well ..

if both of you have expired plans - there might ne a Fix in a newer version .. not saying there is, just saying that this is the world we live in now .. if you stop your plan you stop gettting update and fixes ..

so what you say ?? just guessing right now .. and sorry if this is been thoguht about or a sore spot ..

cheers john
