Need help - Audient iD14 interface

Hello!

My MacBook Pro died today so I installed Pro Tools 10 on an older MacBook (2 GHz Intel Core Duo) and it is running successfully but will not show my Audient iD14 interface.

Mac system preferences show it but not Pro Tools.

I would GREATLY appreciate any help!

Thank you,

James

Hi James and Welcome to the Community

I assume you have downloaded and installed the iD14 drivers for Mac :-)

When you launch PT10 try holding down the N key until you get a popup window and choose your iD14 interface there and see if that helps.

Hey Southsidemusic,

Thanks for the reply! Will try that now...

No drivers available for the interface, only firmware. Hopefully this works!'

Of course you need the drivers for mac. Firmware updates is only for the internal controller in the interface, nothing that connects anything on Mac or Win.

Both Mac and Win needs the drivers to work.

Check here and download and install the driver for OSX

Darn it - no luck.

The "N" trick worked and I was able to select the Audient USB interface but once PT finished loading, it still wouldn't show it as an input in the channel.

Any more suggestions??

I truly appreciate the help!

Yes read my post above with the drivers you need to install.

Checked that earlier today (thanks for the link!)

Unfortunately, the older MacBook I'm using won't let me run either - driver and firmware.

Then i don't think you can use that interface at all on that Mac.

An interface need drivers and if they aren't installed the interface won't be seen inside PT, hence no sound. Macbook you have saw the USB protocol of the iD14 but that isn't enough, you need to install drivers.

What OSX is on that Macbook?

Running 10.6.8

I'm afraid you're right - gonna need a different interface.

Ugh.

Ugh.

Why not run internal soundcard for now as that Mac won't run very well when you start using a few tracks and plugins. Its gonna throw up errors and you will pull your hair out ;)

Just use the internal audio until you get a new computer which is a better purchase than an interface that actually runs on that Macbook. IMHO of course.

Whatever you do Best Of Luck.
