Cleaning Control 24 faders?

Hey everyone,

I just picked up an old control 24 that was suffering from the ol' busted C20 capacitor issue. It is now back to life, with everything functioning accept for two faders. One seems to have a 'dead' spot where it won't move, about 30% to 70% of the vertical travel. Outside of those ranges it will move. Another fader is incredibly twitchy, trying to routinely more to the bottom of its travel.

I get the impression that these may be caused either by wiring harnesses that need to be re-seated, or the fader tracks for the fader position are dirty, etc. Has anyone cleaned their motorised faders before? Do I just approach it the same as I would standard analogue faders? Blast them with deoxit faderlube, or pop them apart and clean the tracks with some isopropyl alcohol?

This kinda thing seems to cause problems like that. If you DO want to lube the faders... user 'Delta Music Belgium' came up with a method using bicycle grease or chain lube (forget exactly) that worked better that anything else. This was for ProControl faders but would probably be the same for Control 24.

search around for that or send him a message if you're interested.:D
