Allen, have you seen this?

I STILL don't see the 2600's for sale anywhere, although a few places on www.pricewatch.com are selling (or at least taking orders) for the 2400's.

I want to try out one of those Pentium 4's with with the 533 FSB.. That sounds good!

But, for now, I can afford AMD, and will stand by my 2100+ until it becomes obsolete in 4 months, 2 weeks, 6 days, and 31 minutes.

All this progress is giving me buyer's paralysis. I still have my 2 1/2 year old PTLE rig. It's a P3 750 and I still manage. Sure I would like more power for plug ins, but I think I'll keep watching and waiting until the next major breakthrough...Or maybe the breakthrough after that.

What ever happened to the "Clawhammers"? Someone on the DUC said that we wouldn't even need a fan on those processors because of the new .13 micron technology producing less heat. When I inquired about that bit of info at my local PC Club they laughed at me. But it sounds good to me. No extra fan noise and super speedy...I guess that's what I'm waiting for.

Hi,
The whole Hammer series has been delayed at least a quarter. It's been big news up here in the Valley. AMD's stock got 'Hammered' yesterday on the news that they would miss their number. They closed down over $1.74 to close at $3.63, a 10 year low.

You really sure you want to move up here?

Mark

When is it going to end Mark? Whew. Three years ago I was loving Silicon Valley, now I avoid it like the plague. No wonder we are getting so many Californians moving to Idaho and Utah. Hope things turn around soon out there my friend. I heard that AMD delayed the release of the Hammer series until next spring. That is definitely going to hurt these guys. Intel is taking the lead again. I love it.

AMD's Hammer should be available the first quarter of 2003 according to AMD, so around March if all goes well. You will still need a fan to cool the hammers also becasue of the higher clock speeds.
