Screen capture software will record video with no sound with Pt
 

I am trying to make PT tutorials for my students using screen capture software but I am unable to record any audio coming from Protools. PT plays what is in its session through my speakers, but no screen capture software will record audio with the video.

I've tried FRAPS, oCAM and OBS Studio and none of them will record sound from my computer. I've selected my sound card driver but the software doesn't hear it. It's funny because I can record the audio from games, just not with any DAW.

I'm using:
Win7
Focusrite Saffire 56 with latest drivers.

I’m having the same issue - I’ve tried LiteCam HD, Camtasia, and Debut from NCH. I’ve tried every audio routing possibility and nada...I see lots of YouTube tutorials on PT so I know it can be done somehow - any help from the community would be super appreciated!

My system is Win 10 on an Intel NUC with an i7 processor and a UA Apollo Twin mk 2 TB

The "problem" is ASIO audio is notoriously hard to capture. I'm sure you don't care why though, you want to know HOW, because it can be done with the right tools.

You can do this for FREE with OBS and Voicemeeter and/or the FL Studio ASIO driver.

I personally prefer the FL Studio ASIO driver, but it does have limitations if you need a separate track for SYSTEM audio and ASIO audio (this is not an issue for 99% of videos)

For those who have other screen capture programs, you can use Voicemeeter and/or the FL Studio driver to accomplish the same thing. But for the OP, here are links to the free software.

There isn't a download for JUST the FL ASIO driver. Install the trial and you will get the driver and the driver should continue to work after the trial period is over.

If you want to edit your footage there are plenty of free video editors. You could use Windows Movie Maker or anything you want. But here are some good free NLE's

I would highly recommend you watch the entire "How to make tutorial videos" video first, if you are new. It is long, but it will show you everything you need to know. After that, once you decide which audio method you are going to use, watch the related video for that method.

See my above post for how to do this, but I wanted to mention, that a lot of videos are made by recording the audio separate from the video and combining later in an NLE.
