Meters won't peak while recording...EVER!!?!??
Hello there,
I am curious why whenever I am recording into pt I can never seem to clip the meter in the pt mixer. Could this be something to do with Mixcontrol (virtual mixer software which comes with the Focusrite saffire 56 interface)? When I look at the Mixcontrol virtual mixer, I can see that loud microphones WILL infact clip into the red, however protools seems to not consider the overdriven distortion clipping. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks in advance :-) UPDATE: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p=2126863 |

Never experienced this, are you pre/post fader metering? Do you have any inserts with a limiter active on those tracks?

My meters are pre fader. No inserts with limiters. Any ideas?

Meters won't peak while recording...EVER!!?!??
Have you tried it without the Mix software?

Meters won't peak while recording...EVER!!?!??
Just had a thought, I don't know if my PT meters peak during tracking because I ONLY use the meters on my mix control during that stage. They are on the a/d stage. If you clip those, I could see why it wouldn't clip in PT. I'll go down and test when my wife heads off in a bit. I can get them to clip but only while mixing...although, it's bad practice to even get close :P

SpinningDisk,
Unless I have been misinformed, it is not possible to use protools with my interface unless I am running this mix control software as a virtual input mixer. |

PT should be the Host. I could be wrong. Someone will chime in.

This is not normal for protools faders to fail to show clipping on a recording track. Something is wrong here. |
