How not to make a sale 101...

Realizing there is a June 15 deadline coming up
I was interested to see what options I had regarding my 2 D-command ES’s
complete with fader packs and XMons
upgrading to them to an S6.

So during a break in one of our sessions I reached out to R. from Avid
and we had a productive phone call regarding how the program works
and some of the quirks of the promo.

Still interested, I requested he send out product data sheets
and a pricing schedule so I could figure out what we would need for our facility.

e-z p-z.

Instead I receive an email from someone completely different
asking me to make a redundant phone call to cover things from scratch a second time.

Slightly annoying, but definitely not what I was promised.

Followed up by another email, again with no information attached,
but yet again asking me to make a duplicate phone call.

But the strawbreaker, was when I then received from WestlakePro
a spam email regarding some sales pitch on a whole other product!

Great, so now I’ve been dumped into a database by someone and some company that I never requested.

So, I’m over it, and I’ll stick with my icons…

Geez! I hope your Icons work for a good long time(great controllers:D). Personally, as a music guy, the S6 left me cold. Maybe it makes more sense to POST engineers:o

And don't forget the venerable command 8,
which I believe has a superior layout to the S3,
plus it still works,
and I use it simultaneously with my icon…

I'm sorry for your experience, not good. As the Product Manager, I'm interested in finding out more and making sure this doesn't happen again? Also if you are still interested in finding out more details I can help?

I can vouch for Eddie. For anything S6 related it would probably be worth your time to connect with him -- super knowledgeable and a professional problem solver.

Re: How not to make a sale 101...

Well admittedly, Avid was already on a short leash with me,
for, after investing 25 G’s into a full-blown pro-control set up,
and then see the suits decide to intentionally brick it.
So besides losing the functionality,
to see our investment dwindle into what, at last check,
was a $140 listing on craigslist is sobering to say the least.

Still as I mentioned, I was intrigued enough to reach out
and see what the options are.
So a brief but productive phone call and a request for some docs
would allow me to familiarize myself with the feature sets,
the pricing structure, and the trade in promos.
And then after that if I still have questions or concerns
then it's efficient to reach out for a conference call.

S. from Westlake Pro mentioned how complicated these are;
well sure, as was the pro-control and the icons
as well as our large-format analog consoles,
but I'm fine with RTFM.

If R. from avid was going to hand off the contact
he should've mentioned that on the phone call
rather than promising to send me the requested info.

And S. from Westlake Pro in another follow-up
promised to remove me from their email roles,
but natch, a couple of days later I got spammed again.

By the way R. had mentioned that he works closely with S. on avid products;
it's worth noting the first spam email I received
was to pitch me on an audio interface which directly competes with Avid.

So I'm through with Westlake Pro.

if you or someone else there at avid
wishes to pick up the pieces
feel free to finish the request by sending me the data
so I can determine if this is anywhere in our bell curve
so as to not waste anyone's time on an extended sales pitch.

Thanks for listening,
e
