Clean a Controller

Hi everyone,

I have an Akai MPK88 controller that I want to fire up after a long time of no use. The keys are yellow and dusty, (the whole thing is dusty), and I want to give it a once-over; get the keys looking better and basically clean the whole outside.

Are here solvents or methods that work well or also should be avoided?

Always appreciate the responses,
Adam

Use the highest isopropyl alcohol that you can get. You should be able to get 91% at any local pharmacy. It evaporates quickly (so you have to work fast) but spray a cloth/paper towel (not directly on the keyboard) and then swipe.

Also works really well to get grime off of computer keyboards (like the Apple keyboards)

Hi,

Really appreciate it. It’s a great controller and it’s literally collecting dust. I’ll give it a shot!

IPA won't work as good as Windex. Been using that like forever and it cuts through all kinds of grime. Also works wonder on cleaning up the computer keyboard (the flat Apple ones). Just make sure you do the cleaning with the power off.

Trust me - I've tried both IPA (not the beer) and Windex and the latter wins hands down.
