Mbox Mini input is too loud

Hi!

I'm using a Mbox mini for recording my guitar and vocals, but when I'm recording guitar the signal is really loud and hits the red area every single time. The gain knob is turned all the way down, but it's still too powerful.
What is it I'm doing wrong? I don't get it.

Just wanted to add that it makes no difference whether I use channel 01 or 02.

What kind of track? Audio, Instrument, Aux? Stereo, mono?

What mBox Mini? 2nd Gen or 3rd?

I'm recording on a mono audio track, with a 3nd generation mbox mini.
It's the one that came with pro tools LE 8 software. The black and grey one.

I don't have an Mbox Mini but I assume there are switches for line/instrument signals and phantom power. Make sure you choose the appropriate one, and make sure to turn off phantom power if your mic doesn't need it.

Good luck.

Re: Mbox Mini input is too loud

Hey Stiff and thanks for your answer.

I'm running a guitar directly through the mbox. But I've just found the solution by reading the manual :o

The gain knobs have a function where if you pull them out they will lower the input with 20 dB, which even is written on the mbox, I have just never noticed it because my Mbox front is facing away from me.

So problem solved, thanks for your suggestion though, and I will look in the manual next time before asking :)
