Is 7.4.2 HD identical to 7.4.2pr HD?
Dear Digi! Please explain, is the version 7.4.2 HD identical to the 7.4.2.prerelease version HD? Do I need to reinstall it? How should I do that: first uninstall the PR version, and then install the final one? Or should I do the clean install of Mac OS X Leopard and then install 7.4.2? Please clear the matter!

1. Repair rights with disk utility 2. Un-install (choose "clean un-install") 3. Re-boot 4. Install Final Release No need to wipe your HD and reinstall OS. The pre-release has been presented for those folks, who bought a new Mac, that has been shipped with 10.5.2, to get them working again, after they updated their OS. |

It's definitely NOT the same release! Clean uninstall and then reinstall the offical version.

He will need to update his OS from 10.5.1 to 10.5.3 -- make sure to use the Combo Updater.

Thanks to all of You, friends, for your help. It's nice that I don't have to reinstall the OS. Of course, I already upgraded to 10.5.3 before installing PT 7.4.2pr.

The Combo updates are all of the changes since the Leopard, e.g. contain the updates from 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3, etc. The software update releases are called "delta" releases and contain just the changes from (in this case) 10.5.2 to 10.5.3. Although, I have never had a problem with the delta releases, people have had problems with them before thus most people recommend using the combo releases. |
