Direct Monitoring in FW1814 and ProTools M Powered

I recently bought the 1814 and PT M-Powered 6.8r2 for my 1.67ghz Powerbook G4. I was wondering if with this setup if you can use the "Direct Monitoring" option on the M-Audio control panel mixer to use input monitoring, to avoid the latency in the ProTools software. It says in the manual that ProTools bypasses the inputs on the software mixer. Just curious, since I haven't been able to try it out myself, due to time constraints. Also, is it possible to monitor the inputs direct(including ADAT or SP/DIF?), while having a send on a particular input/track to an effect and monitor it back while recording?(unlike the Digi 001/002 in which the low-latency monitoring feature disables all sends). any input here would be appreciated, since I got this to be a really portable setup, to avoid using a mixer. Thanks.

yes u can definitely monitor with zero latency with ur 1814...just mute the track ur recording onto in protools so that ur not listening to whats coming out of pro tools but ur listening to the input of ur 1814 before it goes into protools...just make sure u route ur 1814 input to one of ur output pairs(this is all done in the 1814 mixer window) just treat this window as a separate mixer where u can do routing before u go into pro tools...

Thanks very much, any idea if there's a way to use the SP/DIF output and input to use say, a Lexicon MX200 effect processor in the loop to listen to an effect while recording with no latency? Thanks again

will there be a latency problem if the analog i/o where used? delta 44
