running ultimate and normal on one machine

hi,
a friend has the normal Pro Tools vesrion running, and would like to, from time to time, use the HD Ultimate version as a subscription on a monthly basis.
Now the avid support says that you can not run ultimate and the normal version on one computer...
is that right?
couldn´t you make up a second account and put it there?
thanks!

This is controlled by the license, so simply activate the one you want to run on your iLok using iLok License Manager.

Driver for what? Are you expecting to work with DigiLink interfaces?

Otherwise should will be fine.... Standard cannot use any DigiLink interfaces. And you cannot run both versions simultaneously... besides that no problems, and I have no idea what Avid support person was thinking.

PT standard and PT ultimate are the same software. If you have the Ultimate/HD license available on when you boot, you get full features. And you cannot choose to run with standard features when you have Ultimate/HD license. Clear enough? If you want to downgrade all you need to do is remove the Ultimate/HD license bundle and replace it with a standard license.
