Asio Error with Apollo Twin USB!!!

Hi,

I'm using Pro tools 12 with a UA Apollo Twin USB interface on a Windows 7 system.

The computer specs:
OS Windows 7
Intel Xeon CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40Ghz
RAM: 16.0 GB
Video: NVIDIA Quadro K4200

I got very frequently this error:

"ASIO device properties have been changed by the device property panel. Pro tools must be restarted for these changes to take affect. Please restart pro tools."

The Apollo and Pro Tools session Sample Rate match.
All Windows sounds are disabled (I think).

I use it on a professional context and it is very embarrassing.

Could you please help me to solve this issue?

Thank you!

Asio Error with Apollo Twin USB!!!

Did you contact the universal audio forum about help with this error? and to make sure that the interface is properly set up?

The reason why I bring this up is because I used to get that same error when running a focusrite 3rd party interface (on Windows) and focusrite took so long to rewrite the driver that I switched to a Mac and the problem went away

I've just done it :)

I can't switch to Mac at the moment, it would be great to solve the problem on Windows 7.

I work with an internet connection and Antivirus AVG.

Disable the connection and the antivirus could help in your opinion?

For sure....it could help.

Did UA recommend installing the ASIO driver?

Or did they supply a specific driver for the unit?

So why did you install the ASIO driver?

was it recommended?

I think it is a specific asio driver for the Apollo.
I don't remember exactly.

I would ask Universal Audio....via contact info on their webpage.

It has been so long since I ran windows I don't even remember if it's required or not..... Sorry.

Here is another troubleshooting step you can do......

Download a Studio One demo here http://studioone.presonus.com/get-studio-one

either one for your setup.....and test out the interface in that scenario....does it work well or does it kick back the same error. That way you can narrow the field of problems to the interface or the DAW (protools in this case).

I am pretty sure you would have to run that twin into a USB3.0 connector on you computer right? have you tried switching ports? Maybe a dedicated USB3.0 card for your PCI-e slot?

Turning off windows Sounds is probably not the issue.

Have you done all the Avid optimizations for Windows 7?

Have you gone into Control Panel>Sound and made absolutely sure that your onboard soundcard is the default for Windows Sounds/Audio and Recording so that your Apollo is only for Pro Tools. This is pretty much a must do on Windows.

Re: Asio Error with Apollo Twin USB!!!

I've had the same issue, it crops up with a lot of interfaces on PC using Pro Tools. Mines with an Antelope Audio Zen Studio. It's not entirely Avids fault as I understand there are interfaces whose drivers don't have this issue (I read it has to do with Avids ASIO implementation, something about ASIO reset requests), but it only happens with PT. Studio one doesn't do it, least not that I've ever seen.

The only way I found to fix this issue is to disable all audio devices under the Windows Sound settings. Playback and record. Pro Tools will still be able to use the interface, just nothing else that doesn't support ASIO. For some reason, Pro Tools is getting its sample rate not from the interface, not from itself, but from Windows.

Of course, this means listening to iTunes, etc isn't do able without messing with it and it seems to break every time I try it. So I've just learned to live with it.
