Avid Control Frequently Disconnecting with Silicon Macs

I've had a problem for quite some time that Avid Control will frequently disconnect. Closing the app and re-opening will fix it. I'm on an M1Mac MacBook Pro. My studio partner was on an intel Mac mini 2018 and never had that problem.

Recently he upgraded to the same computer as me, and the problem began happening for him too.

We're currently using an S1 paired with an iPad running avid control. We used to run an android tablet and had the same problems.

Both of us on macOS Monterey. Latest version of pro tools an EuControl.

Does anybody else have these problems in this configuration?

Yes, I've had this problem since upgrading my system to a Mac Studio in December. I have an Amazon Fire tablet, though. and Ventura (13.1). It only happens 1-2 times in an 8-10 hour workday. I'm hoping it's fixed in the hopefully-forthcoming Eucon update.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve flagged this to avid in a support ticket already but the more the better so they can see the pattern.

Re: Avid Control Frequently Disconnecting with Silicon Macs

Thanks but that's not quite my issue. EuControl works. The S1 works perfectly. The problem is Avid Control on the iPad will occasionally be buggy and require a app restart. It doesn't necessarily fully disconnect. Oftentimes the bar counter in the top/left will still lock to the PT playhead, but there will be no tracks / meters on the screen. Seems to sometimes be triggered by doing a large session operation (importing session data, adding/removing several tracks, etc). But it also can happen randomly. Again, not as bad of a problem when the host computer is intel.

I’m on an M1 machine so I don’t like it’s an Intel VS M1 issue. I don’t experience these issues running AC on 4 Android tablets.

This sounds more like a network issue.

Are they paired with S1's like in my configuration?

Yes. 3 x S1’s and a Dock.

Can you post some info on your network configuration as well as screen shots of your surface layout in EuControl?

Network ports on new Mac are notoriously unreliable. Turn off power saving and set the speed from auto to fixed. This might help.

Thanks for the reply. Can you clarify what you mean by "set the speed from auto to fixed"? I'm not familiar with that setting and where to find it.
