Why did iLok System shows I must activate my Pro Tools Trial with a physical iLok key?

Thanks for your reply. I followed the activation steps showed on avid's videos but nothing seems to work. I uninstalled and then reinstalled both Pro Tools & iLok License Manager as well however it didn't work too. Is there anything else I could try out to solve this problem?

If I'm not mistaken, even with Ilok cloud, you must still use a physical ilok initially to activate the license that is deposited to your ilok account. Once you have it Protools working from the physical ilok, you can move the authorization into ilok cloud.

Having said that, I would never use ilok cloud due to unreliability (we've seen ilok server outages that prevented many commercial studios users from being able to use Protools until the problem was fixed). Also if your Internet goes down or is unreliable, you may not be able to run Protools. A physical ilok will allow you to run Protools without an Internet connection and even if Ilok servers goes down. In the future, you might obtain some plugins that will require a physical ilok, so you might as well invest in one now.

Thank you so much guys for your replies. At the end I decided to just subscribe to Pro Tools and it works perfectly fine now! Once again thanks for your help!

I have the same issue here and here's my step.
Downloaded Pro_Tools_2021.3.1_Mac.dmg directly from the trial E-mail and installed it. I've attached a PDF of screenshots.

This is on a newly formatted computer, new avid/iLok account

Any suggestion?

Did you get a physical iLok dongle? It is only about $49 and a far better way to authorize Protools than the unreliable cloud based authorization.
