Can't find authorization code for Pro Tools LE 8

Hey everyone,

I'm near to recording! I have my Macbook Pro, external hard drive, and my 003 Rack with Pro Tools LE 8.

Okay, I installed Pro Tools 8 with the 003 rack factory bundle. Pro Tools then asked me for an Authorization code -

"Please enter the authorization code provided with this version of Pro Tools. In new systems, the code is on the inside cover of the "Getting Started Guide". In software upgrades, the code is on the inside cover of the "Upgrading to Pro Tools Guide."

I have looked everywhere and I can't find the authorization code! I have a 'Getting Started' booklet, which came with my 003 Rack Factory. This does not have the authorization code anywhere! The small piece of yellow paper does not have the code on too. The only codes I can find are:
  • Registration ID
  • Serial number
  • Release code
  • and this other code (not sure what it's for).

Where can I find it!? I bought the 003 Rack Factory with Pro Tools LE 8 included from an official dealer so there's nothing wrong there.

Thanks guys,
Matt.

I think the 'serial number' that you have in the Getting Started might be the 'Authorization' number.

If it starts with DIGI0800 xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

then that's the one you want.

Hey JazzyJ,

thanks for your reply.

nah it looks like the serial number isn't the authorization code :(

The serial number doesn't start with 'DIGI0800', none of the codes provided do!

There's always something that goes wrong!
I've emailed Digidesign, but haven't received a reply yet.

Thanks mate,
Matt.

other people please help me out too!

Try entering the code here

Hey PezKing,

I already tried this. I thought if I entered it, Digidesign would have a copy of the code or something. But nope, they don't :(

Thanks man.

How did you solve your problem? I'm facing the same issue here...

WHAT I DID:
-Downloaded and installed PT10 trial.
-Loaded the 30 day code on my ilok.
-Played with PT10.
-uninstalled PT10.
-Installed PT8.
-Upgraded to 8.0.5.
-The software asks me for my authorization code, which is nowhere to be found on the PT papers I have.

Please, help me...

Is it possible that PT10 removed the PT8 authorization from my ilok?
I don't see anything mentioning PT8 on my ilok...

PS: I can't find a way to email AVID to ask them how to solve my problem.

If you have an activation code, you enter it on the Avid site (linked above I think) to get the auth code, which you enter in PT. If you've already used the auth code, it porbably won't give it to you again. But you may be able to find it anyway, by browsing in your online Avid account.

Type 'DIGI0800' into a Google search engine and you'll be able to see an example of what the code you need looks like. Then you should be able to locate it in your documents. For PT5 it has a 5 in it for, PT6 a six and so forth.
