Effective way to recover WAV audio file

My younger bro used my computer and deleted a couple of WAV files. Tried Recuva but it doesn't scan the file.

Is a free tool enough? It is normal that the file cannot be loaded, and I have tried three times to fail to load the missing file.
Maybe you can try it , My colleagues often use it to save some losses,I hope you can do the same.

Yes. You need to have Recuva installed before you need it and allow it the time necessary to do a deep scan. I've found Recuva to be more reliable than other, even paid for services.

Amazing that details can matter...

How exactly were the files deleted.

And to state the obvious, was the Recycle Bin actually emptied?

One thing that caught my eye was the difference between whether the files were on a spinner or ssd

Yes, great point, that has come up here on DUC recently. If it's an SSD with TRIM enabled then the delete (once the recycle bin is emptied) is very likely unrecoverable. If its an SSD or HDD and the delete was made because the disk is short on space then may also be unrecoverable as the freed space is more likely to be overwritten (or garbage collected prior to being overwritten, for SSDs not using TRIM).

In the memorable words of Dirty Harry: "Man's got to know to make backups".
