Two iLoks 1 license

I use Pro Tools 11 on my laptop at work when i'm not home. It's becoming a pain to keep switching the ilok between my home desktop and laptop. Is it possible to have 2 iloks with the same Pro Tools license?

No it’s not.

If you upgrade to a current version you could take advantage of the iLok cloud authorisation option and that way, you can just have the license in use without the physical dongle.

You will need an active internet connection though.

Oh ok great. Thanks for the info. So just to clarify, newer versions of Pro Tools did away with physical iloks and a "virtual license" will still work on more than one computer?

No. That’s not quite what I said.

One license only. But, you have the option to authorise to the iLok dongle or use the iLok cloud authorisation, which means you just log in so to speak when on a different machine that has a version of Pro Tools that allows cloud authorisation.

If you look it up all the info is there.

Or use one license and two iLoks and just use iLok's License Manager to move the licenses between the two iLoks. While you will need an Internet connection to do so, you won't need the Internet connection to be on all the time like you would with Cloud Authorization.

Yes I was going to suggest that too, but I thought if the OP found unplugging a USB dongle and inserting that into another machine tedious, then moving licenses around would probably be as much of a PITA.

You also have to remember to transfer the license cos if you forget, you’re screwed at the secondary location. Essentially no different than unplugging the physical dongle.

But it is another option for sure and it won’t require updating Pro Tools.
