Im looking for a way to convert drums tracks into MIDI triggers. It strikes me that Beat Detective is more than up to the job of analysing drum tracks and creating sync points from the transients, but is there any way of turning these into MIDI notes?

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated (Im just trying to find a solution without setting the kit up with MIDI triggers).

Thanks in advance,
e

e,

There's a PC-only app that does this fairly well:

http://tallstick.com/

I have yet to see such a thing for the current Mac OS.

If you have an older Mac, and can find a copy of the last rev of Studio Vision, you might get by with that. It did audio-to-midi, but wasn't exactly flawless.

There is a hardware solution in the Alesis DM4 and DM5. Roland also make one.

I believe Logic can do this too.

There's a shareware app for Mac called d-sound pro, search for it with Google.com. It worked on OS 9 for transferring audio from Pro Tools to a ddrum brain (as MIDI sys ex data).

DP has a plug called "Trigger" I belive that does this. I've seen it used, but can't speak to the quality. A pal that used to do a lot of drum and bass swore by it.
