I just recently acquired a Mix Plus system. When I transfer my audio on a Zip disk from the Pro Tools to an Avid Express, the audio seems one dimensional and doesn't have the depth it does on my PT. I'm bouncing the files as an AIFF. Other files don't seem to work. Any suggestions?

I don't know why it sounds bad, but I can tell you this: AVID uses SDII files, just like ProTools (I guess it converts to OMFI, but that's not a big deal). Therefore, there is no need to convert files to AIFF in ProTools and then convert back in Avid.

The only problem I've had in the hundreds of times I've imported SDII's into Avid is a slight gain structure difference from Protools. It's a good idea to use something like -12 or -18 dB as a reference level and not let it hit zero much (if at all). If you're too close to 0dB, it'll get a little distorted in Avid.

I hope this helps.

Just to also let you know that the 888 for
the Avid is only at 16 bit so make sure you convert your file down if you've been working at 24 bit.
