As a biginner in recording field I really need some useful tips from you people with years of solid experience. I deeply will appreciate any help. In this ProTools session I have:

- One lead vocal track;
- One acoustic piano track;
- one Kik track;
- one snare track;
- One hi-hat track;
- One bass track;
And these are my needs:
1- How do I use any delay and reverb effects on my lead vocal track and how do I pan everything in here.
2- I want my piano to have a full sound across left and right stereo field.
How do I get that and how do I use delay and reverb effects on my piano track?
3- What is the best trick to do on Bass and on other drum tracks?

Thank you for any help.

Kam- Just play with it. Sometimes you can pan the drums to the left and the vocals to the right, or add non-rythmic delays or reverb any way you like.

This is "art", not brain surgery. You can't **** it up. If you like it, then it's good. If you don't like it, do it over and over until you do.

There are no rules!!!

Fletcher is correct although I'll tell you what I would do.

Panning
- One lead vocal track; Center
- One acoustic piano track; Hard Left
with a short Delay (20ms) panned Right
- one Kik track; Center
- one snare track; Center
- One hi-hat track; Mostly Left
- One bass track; Center

Short Reverb on Kick and Snare

No FX on Bass or Hi hat

Long Plate reverb on Piano and Vox

Short Delay on Vox about 200ms no feedback.

You might want to try a little long delay on piano (about 330ms) and HiHat.

If this doesn't sound good then it's probably because I'm not using my ears.

Hope that helps

Be careful with the 20ms delay trick, it changes the sound drastically when listened to in mono...

That is true. Try using the Waves Plug in stereo something PS something. I forget, but it pans EQ ranges left and right.

That might be better

OR: copy the piano track, hi pass one side and low-pass the other, and voila, it kinda sounds like it's a stereo piano!

as far as mixing tricks, I always go back to the Beatles... then I realize there are songs where the drum kit is on the right, the lead vocal is on the left, and it still sounds fantastic. so... do what feels right to you.
