Hello all,

I am curious about the differences between L1 and Master Tools. Now that L1 is 48bit, does it sound closer to what you get with UV22? Would it make sense to use L1 for limiting and MT for 16bit dithering?

I've wondered the same thing myself, and I'd have to say that I think the answer to your second questions is -- "yes". Use MasterTools for dither, L1 to increase gain. I always felt a little funny about the effect the L1 was having on my mixes when I used their dither, although I know people love the thing, and that 3.0 is supposed to be better. I downloaded the MasterTools demo and it's very sweet, which I suppose you would expect. It's a lot of money to pay for something that essentially just provides dither, and the NOVA algorithm, but if you think about how much time goes into a mix, it makes sense to treat it as carefully as you can during the final dither phase...
