DTP users; pull down question

I want to pull down audio as I tranfer from dat to PT. I assume the way to do it would be pull up PT while transferring in, then when PT plays not in pull up this audio will be appropriately slower. My question is when doing the pull up, do I set both the DTP and PT to pull up? The manuals are not very clear on this. By the way I'm not recording the dat material online so t.c. is not an issue here.

oops, found it in the PT manual. Both need to be in pull up. . I recorded 18 min of music, first no pull up, then with pull up. I compared the waveforms. After 18 minutes they were still same length-no variation in waveforms. The DTP was referenced to external word. I then made DTP the master and the pull up worked.
