Can the digi001 be compared w/the vs1680 relating to sound quality, etc.?

My guess is that if the audio is transferred digitally, sound quality should be very similar.

However, I would bet--and hope--that Pro Tools' A/D converters are quite a bit better than the 1680's.

No autopunch on digi001?
All specs on digi001 look good, so why tout it as not up to pro standards?
I'm presently using 2 ADAT XT - Could 2 digi001 be synced for use w/them? I've been considering ADATEdit cards but really would like to ditch the ADATS & go to PT exclusively - digi001 sounds good due to later transfer to PT - Buy the ADATEdits or digi001?

Digi001 has 24-bit converters VS-1680 only has 20-bit on the analog inputs. They both have mic pre's. 16 tracks vs 24 tracks. Both are 24-bit internal. I've heard some nice stuff on the VS-1680. Interface seems a bit time consuming on the VS.

yes, but digi says that the digi001 converters are comparable(almost as good ie) as the 888/20, which is strictly 20 bit conversion
