just back from aes ...... it is not in 5.1.1, due out any time now and although 5.2 (the digipronet version) was not connected, no one at the digi stand seemed to be aware of the trim scrubwheel thing being in 5.2 either

So ...... digi ...... porbably the most wanted feature since the PC came out ...... don't you think it is about time you either did something about it and put it in there or just plainly state that you can't do it because for some reason it is impossible.

Or did I miss something ??????

hey, as long as we're bringing up old issues about the scrub wheel, I'll throw in my favorite:

someday I'd love to see a world where I didn't have to push STOP while I was scrubbing just to zoom in a little further. Or to paste a sound effect while I'm scrubbing the picture. Or to do pretty much anything.

Still no answer on the trim/scrubwheel. I absolutely think this should be implemented.
One of the advantages of the ProControl (to warrant spending the high price) should be that you can do things you can't do with the mouse. I feel the scrub wheel should be able to be used almost like a trackball to navigate around the session with the selector tool etc.
Is there a specific reason why there is no trim/scrubwheel on the PC now? Thanks

Yeah. Trim/Scrub wheel. Seems very simple. I would still like that whole scrub/shuttle/trackpad/button/ashtray assembly replaced with a hole that would accomodate a kensington trackball. That would kill several birds with one stone. I could get scrub, via the trackball, in that spot, and get a trackball off the counter, and ALSO get programable buttons, via the trackball, in the same location. Would be very cool. It would also allow me to countersink the PC into a counter, and get good wrist support for editing. Since the trackpad is useless, the buttons are useless and the scrub wheel is just about useless, give it up, and just give me a trackball holder. I have 5 units, I guess I could customize one, and see just how well it works.....

Good point on the scrub wheel. I just really like having one tactile/hand/mouse/ball device to do what I need. One persons opinion. I do have a different DAW with both a trackball and a good jog shuttle wheel on its propriatary controller. It is handy when it has lots of functionality. Procontrol seems limited in functionality. It would add quite a bit of useability having trim on that wheel. I do believe digi not only hinted, but implied that feature in 5.1. What happened? Was it never intended, or did it get dropped? It sure would make procontrol a little more 'pro'....

Wouldn't it be nice to hear from a digi person where this thing stands for the moment ???????

Gannon ..... ??????

definitely keep the scrub wheel. and I don't mind the mouse thingie, as long as I can just turn it off and use it as, well, an ashtray is an excellent idea -- come to think of it, it's about the perfect size for a joint. (not that any of that sort of behavior would ever happen in a sound studio, mind you. absolutely not, officer, we don't condone that sort of behavior at all. never touch the stuff.)

on a serious note, I am among the voices here who would like to see the scrub wheel improved:

1. trim / scrub. gotta have it on that wheel or it's useless. I NEVER used it with the mouse before I was blessed with the "Pro" Control.

2. make the scrub dependent on something OTHER than zoom on the screen. PLEASE. I hate scrubbing when I'm zoomed way out. And I hate it even more that PT makes me push STOP before I can change the zoom level.

3. DON'T MAKE ME PUSH STOP WHILE I'M SCRUBBING TO DO SOMETHING ELSE WITH THE PROCONTROL. IT'S KILLING ME.

4. as long as I'm dreaming, scrub should be able to work on all the tracks in the session. You could always solo a track if you only want to hear that one while scrubbing. I'm not going to name names (yet) but other workstations can do it. I know this would put more demands on the SCSI chain, but I'd love to see it worked out somehow.

cheers.

you'd think they're up to the point right now where they think ...... will it die .... will it pass ..... do we have to answer .... and if so ... how do we explain this in a way that we don't loose our face .......

Well ..... loose your face .. step up and say it is not in 5.2, ..... or rather ..... admit that maybe it is not even being worked on ..... as for answers from anyone at digi ....... be it Gannon or whoever ...... you guys must know by now that it won't die ...... I won't let it die ....... so step up and answer please .......

It is this very issue which has made me postpone my ProControl purchase until I see Digi's response. Why the heck don't they answer?

Curious to see an answer. I think the silence can be translated into "we have no plans to implement this feature in an upcoming release. We may decide at a later date to implement this feature, but for now it is dead". There, I said it. Digi, can you confirm or deny this? Can you comment on this? It's worth a try...

Hi all,

Yes, I'm still here! I've been travelling and took a little vacation so I haven't even checked the DUC for a few weeks. Sorry, I don't want you to take my inattentiveness the wrong way.

Re: trim scub - I know, I know... it's way long overdue. It has not fallen off the radar screen, but there have been other, more pressing issues to be solved and it seems like when we have it in sight, something else (OSX for example) takes a resource away and it gets preemted in favor of something that is a concern for the entire application, not just ProControl.

I know I sound like a broken record, I hate having to deliver this message *again*, but that's the truth of the matter. Your vocal protests are heard and help make the case for getting this feature implemented (but I don't want to incite a riot!)

Please don't kill the messenger!

Come on guys, ProControl is a great product, and presently the most expencive single item (of music gear at least ) in your range.
