Greetings. I'm an "old school" re-recording mixer used to having a real console/busses etc. & want to buy Pro Control & upgrade to 5.0 - and I'm confused as to how to configure my system. I have the following devices and scenerios:

1. DA88 - need to layin from and mix to & monitor discrete mix stems
2. Dat, Betacam, CD and audio cassette in/out
3. Monitor BVU 3/4" audio tracks, & pan (to check sync against PT session)
4. assorted midi module returns (use 1622?)
5. external phase scope/VU meter device to main L,R
6. mics, gtr direct etc (preamp direct to 888?)
7. external processors (direct to 888?)
how to sum these devices? I can't afford to buy a bunch of 888's

my local digid reps seem as confused as I when asked, without a consensus. I dont want to have to put everything in a patch bay but.... do I need a submixer? then how to monitor..?

thanks.. I appreciate the info in this forum and you guys seem to be the best source!!

I've been using ProTools for years, but never mixed with it. We always used the anaolgue console for that. Well, we are also waiting on delivery of the ProControl. It's absolutely the way to go.
We have much of the same requirements... I'm going to wire mine to patchbays because we need the flexibility. We still have outboard gear that we'll want to use, and I don't want to have to commit the 888's outputs. We'll be using a 24fader ProControl with two 888's.
