Does anybody know the model number of the 19" rack DBX compressor that's similar to the 902 unit ? I can't remember at all....

Hey Charles,

Isn't the 902 a desser? Anyway, there is a 165A,160, 160X etc.

.....snore.... I must have been asleep again....

peter, what I MEAN is, what's the model number of the 19" rack de-esser that's the same as the 902.... I don't think that DBX makes it anymore....
It has a "more" slider, and that's about it, but it works great http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I think you'll remember since you guys had them at post-logic before in room D...

Hi Charles,
Sorry to disappoint you,the 902 and the 16?
deesseer is not the same.
The 16? is a much cheaper unit and canīt be compared to 900 series.

The dbx 900 series compressor is the 903
dbx also makes a 1/2 rack space compressor, the 163x that has a slider "more compression" which is a stand alone unit, The 900 series requires a powered rack which the individual modules,902,903 etc slide into.
Some of the 900 series modules (esp. the 902 )
are cool. the 1/2 space stuff is junk.

Thanks talco, wasn't really asking about compressors though http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I was simply trying to avoid buying more DBX racks to just use the freaking 902 units. I'm using three 902's in my room, but 3 more of our protools rooms need them also, and well, I was trying to find an easier solution than getting a rack and the 902 units http://www.digidesign.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

I just wish there was a good digital de-esser besides the (un-affordable) weiss one. Nothing seems to be able to beat the analog 902's....

Hi Charles

I believe you're asking about the FS900 half space rack mount kit for the dBx 900 series... It can accept 2 902s mounted sideways.

They are the dbx 263A, single channel.

Hi Charles..

At the risk of being blasted by the purists, if you're after a digital de-esser and you like dBX, then have a listen of the dBX DDP. It's not bad for the money. Not in the realm of a 900, but performs it's task admirably.
