When tranferring audio digitally from a CD or 44.1kHz DAT recording to a 48kHz session, I get a high pitched whine that accompanies it (the session is setup to run at internal sync, not digital). Am I stuck to just transferring by analog?

I experienced this once, then realized I was putting 48 data into a 44.1 ProTools session. If you put 48 data into a 48 session, then convert it within Pro Tools, it sounds MUCH better!

Put the 44.1 audio into a temporary session that is at 44.1 KHz. Save and quit. Then go to your original session recorded at 48 and "import and convert audio" from the temporary 44.1 session. This will convert the 44.1 material to 48 and place it in your region bin. Make sure that you have "Best" selected in your preferences (under editing) as the conversion quality.
