Hi,

I'd like to know what kind of codec Avid is using for cloud collaboration. They say it makes audio files 3 times smaller... And they say it's lossless...

The only lossless codecs I know of are FLAC and Apple Lossless. And both of them work on a 50% of the size rate (half size).

So, anyone have more info on this?

Thanks.

Hi Fidelis…
I answered your question in the original thread where you asked it… Pasting the same reply here for you and others:

We use WavPack lossless audio compression on uploaded and downloaded audio files to minimize their size and speed up transfer times. This compression can reduce files up to 70% of their original size, so you can work on a large Project that takes up only a fraction of the real space. Audio quality is bit-for-bit accurate after the transfer, so there’s no change to the sound.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Thank you for the reply. I didn't see it in the other thread.

Cheers,
