View Full Version : Shift + control + click on track name doesn't bank on 1st fader?

I can't believe this.

Shift + control + click on track name in Pro Tools doesn't bank the clicked track as first fader on the controller?
This VERY handy function works on Icon, D-Command and even Avid 003!
Please someone tell me I'm overlooking something...

Eucon 3.3.1 + PT HD 11.3.2 + OSX 10.10.4

In the fader layouts you can set the first fader to use the "selected track". In the Pro Tools preferences is a setting to do the same. Not at my studio now, so I can't check it...

Yes, but it's not the same.

EUCON general preference "auto bank to selected track" lines up from the first fader when you click on the track. So the S3 is changing constantly depending on where you click. It's not as useful as using shift+ctrl only when you need them to line up.

When you assign "attentioned track" on the first fader. It only puts that one track on the first fader. The rest of the faders remain the same.

So I'm still missing this very handy feature.

But thanks for trying to help, I really appreciate!

Allright, I understand. Maybe you can post it on the Ideascale, it shouldn't be to difficult to implement this function I guess..

I realize that this is a fairly old thread but I thought that you may be interested in chiming in on this and possibly helping to track down the version of Eucon that worked with the artist mix series for the scroll to track command.
Here is the link.

I said in that post that we don't think this ever worked for EUCON, the code is just not there, but if by some miraculous chance someone can prove an earlier version worked, then it would be really easy to put back (and not the weeks it will take to start new)

Hey Eddie. Would it be possible to send me legacy versions of Eucontrol from before 2015 as far back as possible?
my email address is [email protected]

Thanks for sending that Eddie.
I was also able to track down up to 3.1.2. Unfortunately, it will install on my mac but I get network config errors so I can't test it.

I found this video online which shows the functionality. Start at the 35 second mark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4WuQL8hQ5Y

Unfortunately, it seems that this video was done after the code was changed as it doesn't work for the author on the artist mix.
One more thing to add to the already confusing equation is that my artist mix was a version 1 silver top. I'm wondering if there was something in the earlier firmware?
It definitely worked and I used it mulitiple times per session over hundreds of sessions so I don't think that my memory is failing me here :)
Thanks so much for trying to sort this out.

Hey Eddie, No luck with the installation. I keep getting network errors BUT !!!!
I posted a facebook message on the S6,S3 users group and got this reply. Looks like someone has it working. He's on the latest Eucontrol, Mavericks 10.95 and PT 12.5.2
Looks like it's something that broke in Protools some time after 12.5.2.
Please see attached screenshot of conversation. Here is a link to the page as well. I see that you are a member but I am not able to message you there.
I will try to get him to pop in on this forum.
Best,
Les

I just tested this with PT12.4.0 HD on my MacBook, OS 10.10.5 and Eucon3.7 with the latest firmware on an S3. No luck.
Thanks Les and Eddie to keep searching. Let me know if there's anything more I can do to help. Again today I've been missing this feature so much working with a large complicated session.

Oh, well.
I thought that it seemed a bit too good to be true.

I suspect that this worked when we were using HUI to control PT...easy test if anyone wants to try ;-)

Hey folks,
I know that Eddie is working on a solution for this for a future release but in the meantime.
If any of you own Keyboard Maestro, I have a bit of a workaround for you.
I've created a macro but I can't attach it here.
Please email me at [email protected] and i'll be happy to send it to you.
Only works with Keyboard Maestro.
Hover your mouse over a track name in PT in the mix or edit window and hold down CNTRL/OPT and press ESC.

The macro is clearing all selections first and then clicking on the track that you are hovered over.
As we know, clicking on a track to the right of any selected track will not affect the faders on the S3. This essentially clears the cache and allows a fresh selection that starts at and spills from the far left fader.
This won't work if you already have all tracks highlighted. If they are, option-click to clear all selections first.

I don't have a HUI controller to test, but
it still works on d-command, d-control and digi003. (12.8.2)

The Mix/S3 are HUI controllers! and that's how they controlled PT before EUCON was implemented in PT.
In PT disable EUCON and set up HUI control. In the EUCON Control panel/pref add PT as a HUI controler.

Sorry Eddie.
For clarity.

set up HUI control.

Okay, I've disabled Eucon in the PT peripherals window. How do I set up HUI control? in the Midi Controllers tab? the S3 is not listed.

In the EUCON Control panel/pref add PT as a HUI controler.

This shows up in Eucon prefs on my mac as Hui on midi ports 1-4 but how do I set this up from there?

If you have PT setup in the EUCON prefs and can see midi ports listed then in PT you need to add them in peripherals.
Check out this old guide I found online, at the end...http://connect.euphonix.com/documents/EUCON_Application_Setup_v2_6.pdf

Thanks Eddie.
I'll give this a shot but I'm assuming that running it this way would mean losing all eucon functionality. It would also default to six character names in the OLED.

Yes. My point is that the people who say that Scroll to View used to work are probably thinking of when it used to be HUI control, not EUCON. It's completely different code so we are going to have to write it new, if it was in EUCON then it would be a lot easier.

Hey Eddie.
Yes, I can certainly see how it seems to be that way.
All that I can tell you is that I had an artist mix for over a year and used it daily with Eucontrol software. I switched between layouts constantly and enjoyed all of the advantages of Eucon software. I was definitely not running in HUI mode (I used to use Mackies and I am familiar with the protocol).
I used the Scroll to View multiple times per session on hundreds of sessions. Unfortunately, I can't go back in time to take a video but I wish that I could :)
Anyway, I certainly appreciate your sticking with this. At this point, it looks like we're not going to find the old code but if you and your team are able to add this functionality in the next release of Eucontrol, me and many others would most certainly be grateful.

I just came across this behaviour not working as expected... And see there is a lot of looking into this so far.

I need to confirm with other rooms here at the studio and whether or not they are functioning, but PT 12.5.2 with Eucon 3.5 and artist mix on this room does not have this function.

I know for a fact that I have had this run on my home system last time I laid up a larger premix. Brought an artist in to help me navigate, and woul dhave been running 12.4 with Eucon 3.2 ( I can't remember the actual version at the moment, but will follow up when I am back).

I know this still works with my faderport in a smaller dub room, but as pointed out that is HUI so not in question here. Will reply tonight once I can check each studio room here, and my home system. Would love to have this functionality back.

Hey Harry, thanks for chiming in on this.
If you have a moment to test this or can offer any other specifics, that would be really great.
Thanks.
