I realize that this is just the mac side of the fence... but after a decade of the rolicking HD/TDM forum... this one is so..mellow? not the right word..
the price point of HDN is off putting but there must be a few users... how could we count us? poll? bumps?.. perhaps there is no complaints..
heres one
I thought that HDN would solve some of my ppc/VI problems, but now I realize it is PTs rtas thing. and Ill be doing VEPro anyway.... please lets go 64bit sooner than later

At least 2 of us ... I'm also with VE Pro, and dying for either PT 64 bit ... Or VE Pro supporting Amplitube 3 audio processing.
Vienna - you listening?

here. I think we will see more when people start to realize what these things can do. Also when/if some tdm only plug ins are made rtas we should see larger adoption.

I miss revibe but I also miss not being able to open old session and have them play "correct". Also with a pro studio some people may expect a certain plug in.

Wow, that's quite a jump. Can I ask how much or in what way the HDN is better than the HD 3?
I am on the HDN and was (still am) considering going HD 3 or 4.
Using it only for mixing 5.1 mostly.
Other than the 6K savings, what are the other advantages?
Thanks

There's going to be one more, once AVID releases a Thunderbolt box ("HD|Mobile"?) that would be like HD|Native but designed for laptops. I'm staying with my HD|2 cards with the Mac Pro because there is no point downgrading. But lately it has felt burdensome taking that massive rig on the road so I'm hoping and waiting...
If not AVID, I'm sure someone (Apogee?, Motu?, RME?) will put out a product just like that. I would just hope AVID gets there first

I felt"had" to choose between going pcie or native since I was HD3pci
I loved my system. but a non intel mac was starting to have less plugin support..
could have gone PC.. Im not unfamiliar with them, since I ran giga and acid etc
I really liked my old HDsystem and bought it the month HD came out by trading a mix++
Native is ok but as someone said here the HD system was very predictable in its limits which native can be random..esp with soft synths

hey Sean...well, to be honest, i would have loved to stick w/ an HD/3 TDM, but i couldn't afford it. so in my case, it was cost-driven. what i'm impressed with is i created a session w/ 40 tracks, and put 2 Dverbs per track, plus a digi EQ on all 40 tracks...only got up to 30% CPU usage...
not exactly a real-world test, but encouraging! plus, i love the smaller foot-print of just 1 PCIe card.
my 3 cents,
marty.
